Please book ahead to receive your flu vaccination - those aged 65 and over, and eligible 18-64 year olds only. If you don't turn 65 before 1 Apr 2020 then you must fit certain criteria (eg diabetic, pregnant, heart disease etc) to be eligible.
We are introducing a new way of seeing patients with diabetes - group consultations are a great way of learning about your condition and how other people deal with problems similar to yours.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings & Tuesday afternoons (weekly)
A full service is offered for all vaccinations and advice required for foreign travel. To ensure adequate vaccination cover appointments should ideally be made 6 weeks prior to travel. There will be a charge for certain vaccinations. See the above tab for further information.
Wednesday and Thursday mornings (weekly)
Immunisation is recommended for all pre-school children and clinics are held Tuesday afternoons 13:30 to 15:30. You should call the practice to arrange an appointment for your child to be immunised.
Women from the age of 25 to 64 should have a cervical smear at least every five years. Appointments can be made with Sue Milner on Monday mornings, Tuesday afternoons, Anne Goulbourne on Wednesday afternoons or with any of the female Doctors. Patients are invited to be screened and notified of their result by post.
Sue Milner runs a Family Planning Clinic on Tuesday afternoon/evenings and Thursday Mornings. Alternatively you can see any doctor at the surgery.
Emergency contraception can be provided by a doctor or the family planning nurse by making an urgent appointment or speaking to the duty doctor/nurse by telephone. Alternatively, your pharmacist may be able to help.
Full pregnancy and antenatal care is offered by the community midwife who works at St Mark's Hospital just down the road.
If you become pregnant, you should complete this form on the Wexham Park Hospital website, or you can call the antenatal clinic on 01753 634500.
The surgery recommends that patients who smoke should try and stop. Help can be obtained from the NHS Stop Smoking Service - details are available from our nurses, doctors or reception or the Smokefree Berkshire Helpline 0800 622 6360, or text QUIT to 66777.
We have limited numbers of appointments available at this time owing to staff shortages - you may need to book your vaccines privately if we cannot find an appointment for you.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment may be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines may have to be ordered as they are not always stock vaccines.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
